Commemorating our 40th Anniversary, the Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan Arts & Cultural Troupe proudly presents The Wolf and the Scholar 《东郭先生与狼》. Join us as this timeless tale comes to life on stage.
Synopsis
The Wolf and the Scholar is a family-friendly Mandarin stage production adapted from the classic Chinese fable Mr Dongguo and the Wolf. Set in a forest, the story follows the compassionate Mr Dongguo, who saves a wolf being chased by hunters, only to face danger when the wolf turns against him after escaping.
Through humour, lively characters, and audience interaction, the production explores themes of kindness, wisdom, gratitude, fairness, and moral responsibility. It also encourages audiences to reflect on environmental protection and the importance of peaceful coexistence between humans, animals, and nature.
Blending traditional Chinese storytelling with moral and cultural education, the production inspires children and families to practise compassion with discernment, respect life, and care for the natural world.
